![]() He’s only 6’3, but can jump out of the gym, can get to the basket at will, and is a solid creator for his teammates. Mitchell might be the most electrifying rookie in the league this season - he just makes plays. He’s hitting more than 87 percent of his free throws, too. He’s turned himself into a solid player with the Kings, hitting 43 percent of his threes while shooting 42 percent from the field. Hield is known by most for being part of the DeMarcus Cousins trade, but he’s better than that. He’s already hitting 37.4 percent of his threes in his rookie season and has been the most pleasant surprise out of Memphis. Second, if you don’t know him, he can shoot the lights out. Dillon Brooksįirst, let me start by saying that I had no clue Brooks was actually Canadian. ![]() They say there’s no defense played in this game, but I guarantee you Ntilikina is going to pick someone up full court. Ntilikina is already loved by Knicks fans for having the moxie to go at LeBron James this season, and now he’ll get a chance to endear to fans on a national stage. He’s also shooting 40 percent from three already. He’s averaging a cool 11.5 points per game along with 2.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. But, let me tell you, he’s got the goods. Bogdan Bogdanovicīogdanovic plays for the Kings, so chances are unless you’re a basketball addict or you’re a Kings fan, you’ve never seen him play before. He’s part of their best lineup and is shooting an improved 38.7 percent from three-point range. Last year’s runner-up for Rookie of the Year has been a huge part of the Sixers’ turnaround this season. His steady efficiency of 12.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists keep the Pacers on balance. Victor Oladipo is an All-Star for the Pacers and rightfully so, but Sabonis isn’t getting enough credit for the Pacers’ turnaround. He’s had seven games with 30-plus points this season, including a career-high 38 against Portland on Jan. Murray’s having an under-the-radar season in Denver. He’s already hit 113 threes in his first season, and it only took him 41 games to reach 100. If the Lakers had taken Tatum, they would have started him over their second round pick Kyle Kuzma, and Tatum would have been playing alongside fellow former Blue Devil, Brandon Ingram.Markkanen might be the most underrated rookie in this class. With a starting lineup that currently consists of Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Julius Randle, Tatum would have gotten his chance. He would have a similar role in terms of production, but he would be playing a different position. ![]() If the Lakers decided to go a different route and take Jayson Tatum, we would see Tatum play in a similar role to that of what he has with the Celtics. The Los Angeles Lakers held the second overall pick in last years draft, which they used to select point guard Lonzo Ball. Tatum on the other hand would not be in consideration for the Rookie of the Year due to the fact that he is getting less minutes, and therefore his production is down.Īll in all, Jayson Tatum is better off with the Celtics than he would have been if the 76ers had taken a chance on the former Blue Devil. ![]() If this were to be the case, Tatum’s 14.1 points per game would diminish to about 6-8 a game with around 21-24 minutes per game compared to his currently 31.1. Alongside the powerhouses of Simmons, Reddick, and Embiid the Sixers may be in contention for a top-5 seed in the East. This means we would see Tatum’s stats plummet and he would not be in the position he is currently in, which is a front-runner for the Rookie of the Year Award. With that being said if Tatum were to be drafted by the Sixers he probably would have split time with Covington. With a starting lineup that currently consists of Ben Simmons, JJ Reddick, Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid we’re not quite sure what role Tatum would play.Ĭovington and Tatum currently have stats that are nearly identical. If they decided to take Tatum we would have seen the former Blue Devil have a much different role. The Philadelphia 76ers held the third pick in last years draft but traded with the Celtics to acquire the first overall pick where they would take point guard Markelle Fultz. ![]() What if the 76ers or Lakers hadn’t passed on Tatum? Philadelphia 76ers: The top three picks in the 2017 NBA Draft belonged to the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Boston Celtics, in order. But what if Tatum was drafted first overall? The Celtics traded their first overall pick to the 76ers and moved back to the third overall pick where they took Tatum. By Matthew Travis 5 years ago Jayson Tatum was drafted third overall in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Boston Celtics. ![]()
